Why This Error Happens

This error can appear when the WhatsApp account is connected to multiple devices — such as the WhatsApp mobile app, WhatsApp Web, and WhatsApp Coexistence — and the connection with Meta is interrupted.

When the Coexistence connection drops, the CRM can no longer access the WhatsApp Business Account, and sending and receiving stops until the account is reconnected.

Inactivity on a Connected Device

If WhatsApp is not opened on one of the connected devices for an extended period, Meta may trigger an offboarding event for security reasons. This causes the Coexistence connection to disconnect.

WhatsApp Mobile App Updates

The same disconnection has also been observed after WhatsApp mobile app updates.

Note: This behavior is entirely controlled by Meta. It is not caused by a fault in the CRM or in your account setup.

Check Whether the Account Is Blocked

Before reconnecting, check whether the WhatsApp Business Account has been blocked or restricted by Meta. If the account is blocked, reconnecting will not restore access until Meta lifts the restriction.

✓Account is not blocked: continue with the resolution steps below.
✘Account is blocked by Meta: resolve the block with Meta first. Disconnecting and reconnecting will not remove a block.

How to Resolve It

The WhatsApp account needs to be disconnected and then reconnected through Coexistence.

1

Confirm the Account Is Not Blocked

Complete the account check described above before making any changes.

2

Disconnect the WhatsApp Account

In the sub-account, go to Settings → WhatsApp and disconnect the affected WhatsApp account.

3

Reconnect Through Coexistence

Reconnect the same WhatsApp Business account using the Coexistence method. Keep the WhatsApp Business app open on the phone during onboarding.

4

Confirm Access Is Restored

Once the account shows as connected, send a test message and confirm that incoming messages appear in Conversations.

How to Prevent It From Happening Again

✓Open WhatsApp regularly on the connected devices. Meta's Coexistence guidance asks businesses to open the WhatsApp Business app at least once every 13 days.
✓Keep the WhatsApp mobile app updated to the latest version.
✓Do not uninstall the WhatsApp Business app from the connected phone.
Important: Even with these steps, Meta can still disconnect a Coexistence account, including after a WhatsApp app update. If that happens, disconnect and reconnect as described above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Did something go wrong with my CRM account?

No. The disconnection is triggered by Meta, usually because of inactivity on a connected device or after a WhatsApp mobile app update. The fix is to disconnect and reconnect the account.

Q: Why did it disconnect even though I use the app every day?

Meta controls this behavior, and it has also been seen after WhatsApp mobile app updates. Reconnect through Coexistence to restore access, and keep the app updated.

Q: What if the account is blocked by Meta?

Reconnecting will not remove a block. Resolve the restriction with Meta first, then reconnect.

Q: What should I send to support if reconnecting does not work?

Include the Location ID, the WhatsApp number, the exact error message, when the issue started, and whether the WhatsApp app was recently updated or left unopened for some time. A screenshot or recording helps.
