Managed Agents, Conversation AI & Ask AI: What's the Difference?

Overview

Chat To Clients CRM's AI portfolio consists of three distinct products—Managed Agents (formerly Super Agents), Conversation AI, and Ask AI. Although they all leverage AI, they are built for different audiences, different workflows, and different levels of autonomy.

This guide provides a clear comparison of each product, explains when to use each one, and establishes consistent positioning for internal teams and customers alike.

1.  The short version

Highlevel offers three different AI products that actually do very different jobs. The simplest way to keep them straight is to ask who each one is for and who initiates it.

Put plainly: use Conversation AI when you want an agent to respond to and converse with the end customer. Treat a Managed Agent as a member of your team - one that automates your daily tasks and workflows in natural language, based on triggers, at a location level, and can act both within Highlevel and outside it with your own custom prompt.

2.  What each product is

1.  Managed Agents: The Autonomous Teammate

Managed Agents is an AI-first way to build autonomous teammates inside Agent Studio. Unlike traditional chatbots, you describe the agent’s role and allowed actions in plain language, and the guided builder assembles a complete, testable agent. It is the strategic successor to node-based builders, focusing on open-ended automation triggered by CRM events.

Core Capabilities & Differentiators:

2.  Conversation AI

Conversation AI is an AI-powered communication agent that automates conversations with your contacts across supported channels. It responds to inbound messages, collects lead details, answers questions, and helps book appointments - based on how you configure the bot.

Key characteristics:

3.  Ask AI

Ask AI is a built-in AI copilot that helps you - the Highlevel operator - create content, get answers, generate assets, and complete supported actions without leaving the platform. It’s reachable from the top navigation bar and the left sidebar (full-screen workspace), at both Agency and Sub-account levels, and accepts text or voice prompts.

5.  One-line positioning

Standardize these across marketing, sales, support, and in-app copy to cut through the “it’s all just AI” confusion.

Ask AI

“Your assistant/copilot for getting work done inside Highlevel.”

Conversation AI

“Your always-on bot that talks to leads and books appointments.”

Managed Agents

“Describe an AI teammate; it converses, knows your business, and takes action across Highlevel and your connected apps.”
